Piece de Resistance: Perfect Bathroom Storage

I think the most luxurious piece de resistance in the Room of the Week is hands down the soaking tub.  But, a post on the amazing attributes of soaking tubs doesn’t do the average homeowner looking to spruce up their bathroom any good.  Most of us aren’t currently planning a bathroom renovation right now.

So, instead I am going to focus on my second favorite thing in the Room of the Week. ALL. THAT. STORAGE! If you live with a bathroom with meager storage than you know what a luxury ample bathroom storage can be.  And, not just ample bathroom storage, but the right kind of storage.  In the bathroom that is the Room of the Week I can count 9 drawers and 3 cabinets, and there may be more that aren’t pictured.

However, most of us don’t have custom bathrooms with enough of the right kind of storage (like me!), so I put together a little round-up of some storage pieces that could work in a bathroom to corral all your toiletries, towels and gadgets.   Avoid buying the wrong type of storage for your space by figuring out exactly what you need to store and measuring your space first, then go shopping.  And don’t stick to the bath section of the store…all these items were intended for other areas of the home, but work perfectly well in the bathroom.  Use this round-up as a way to get inspired to improve the storage in your bathroom.

When we first moved into our townhouse last year our master bathroom had ZERO storage, except for the tiny cupboard under the sink.  I thought about buying a medicine cabinet, but couldn’t find one that was attractive, in my price-range, and perfect for the space.  So, I stalked Craigslist for a few weeks looking for a piece of furniture that would work instead, and that I could take with me when I leave this house.  Then, I hit the jackpot with an estate auction and got the armoire pictured below for one dollar.  It fits into the weird nook between the bathroom and my closet perfectly and is big enough to hold all our bathroom essentials…and a little extra.
