One of my favorite pieces in the Room of the Week is the gorgeous chaise lounge or daybed (whichever you would like to call it). It’s just long enough to stretch out on, or to sit on with a friend for a good conversation. And, it is sure a unique piece to add to the room.
The original chaise lounge is thought to have been created in Egypt somewhere around 3000 BC. And in the 5,000 years since then it has continually been updated to suite the times, and for good reason. It provides a formal place to relax – a dichotomy not achieved by many pieces of furniture. And, today we benefit from the many transformations it has gone through over the thousands of years. There is truly a place to lounge that will work for any style in any room (I defy you to not find one you love) and for every price point (there’s even one from Walmart!).
